Twhirl

Is a Twitter client built out of AIR no not thin Air but Adobes new AIR Framework formerlly APOLLO. Of which is a really nice interface for Twitter. I really like Twitter for microblogging and have been contemplating the use of Twitter for gaining feedback for some of the sites we have relased and worked on. I recently read a really interesting article on the webreakstuff blog site, which read:

New ways of engaging with people

We’re seeing something similar now but at a hyper-level, through different, specialized channels. Companies are now engaging with their costumers through micro-blogging systems such as Twitter - in fact, just a few hours ago, Peachpit Press started following me on there. We have twitter accounts for our projects like Goplan and Totspot, and always recommend our clients and partners to do the same, because we know our audience of early adopters cares that we’re close.

Being on Twitter allows companies to engage in short (but sweet) conversations about their products. To provide instant notifications when something is wrong, or - much better -, when something exciting just happened. A feature or product launch, maybe. The possibilities are endless when companies start seeing customers as friends. A subtle term change, yes, but it has quite the impact.

We currently use Trac to manages tickets for Projects, track bugs and feature requests. I still like Trac but my experience with project managers and digital teams has been one of frustration and well ….lack of experience using such tools resulting in “..why should ‘I’ use it” answers.

So we recently set out to try something better…something easier and being a Joel Spolsky blog reader I was aware of the Fogbugz project they have been developing. I rolled this out to a select group of the digital team in the hope of gaining FogBugs allies who will spread the word through the agency for me.

Im sure we all know what its like when trying to push a new concept or technology and there is always the resistance to change. But funnily enough Fogbugz has been accepted more easily then I thought by my the department.

We still is a trial stage but from what Ive seen so far its a great tool. Thanks Joel!

We are the machine...

I was sent this link a while ago and I still think its a great video for describing the web and how we see and use it. Most especially when blogging. Being a blogger myself I enjoy casting an opinion as much as the next person and voicing my thoughts about a variety of subjects, websites and other such matters. Blogging is a great medium for this…take Wordpress you can setup and install this in literally minutes (if your relatively tech savvy that is) on your site and your blogging in no time.

Ive been researching various Web analytics tools and came across the following site called Woopra.  The one ting that caught my eye was this piece of functionality:

Instant Messaging

Woopra enables you to engage your visitors by starting a conversation with them; a friendly popup will appear on the web page to establish the chat. Also, Woopra provides your visitors with a special link on the page, to be able to start a conversation.

The Future of Web Design is almost upon us. Ive been looking forward to this for months. Ive got my new Sony DSC-H9 camera ready to take snaps and document the event for the team back at WARL Digital. Im really insterested in hearing peoples thoughts on the latest trends on the web and anyone interested in Web 3.0 and online video . Which I really think is going to be the next big thing.
